Orthopaedic NP CEUs

The time has come to renew my certification for AANP. It happens every 5 years and I swear it seems like the the time frame comes quicker every 5 years, ha!

NP Recertification:

Anyways, I figured I’d help some of you last minute peeps (ME) get on our renewal. According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), here are the guidelines in which to re-certify; there are two methods:

1. Clinical practice hours and Continuing education units (CEUs)
   • Minimum 1,000 clinical hours of NP clinical speciality, faculty supervision or volunteer within 5 years
   • Minimum of 100 hours continuing eduction within 5 years
     • 25 hours of the 100 hours MUST be pharmacology
   • Maintain RN or APRN during recertification period
2. Recertification by exam
   • Hold RN license at time of recertification

CEU Options:

I like having options for obtaining CEUs, especially if our jobs are nice enough to help pay for them. Here are some live and online CEUs that I have used as an orthopaedic NP to re-certify:

I hope this helps some of you guys in trying to get on the ball in getting your CEUs. My BEST advice is to go to the CEU tracker for AANP and keep track of your CEUs there. I have had a heart attack loosing my USB with ALL my CEU certificates on it. Don’t be like Tran, get on AANP CEU tracker. Plus, it makes it WAY easier to renew and it keeps up with ALL your credits..even pharmacy one.
